In milling operations, vibration remains a constant limiting factor. For MAQ, it has also been one of the most demanding engineering challenges to solve. That work has now reached a turning point, with the introduction of vibration-damped milling arbors based on MAQ’s STMD™ technology.
Unlike turning, milling presents unique challenges. The tool is in constant rotation, requiring extreme runout precision – while multiple cutting edges create a continuous cycle of high-frequency impacts and shocks.
Our STMD™ (Self-Tuning Mass Damping) technology has been specifically optimized to neutralize these forces. In head-to-head testing under harsh conditions, the final products demonstrated:
- Superior Productivity: Significantly higher material removal rates (MRR) than the market peers.
- Extended Longevity: Enhanced service life compared to competing high-end products.
Initial Product Portfolio: Now Available
We are launching with a selection of 12 key products across the most widely used 7:24 Steep Taper interfaces. To ensure global compatibility, our initial release covers:
- SK Series: Conforming to ISO 7388-1 (DIN 69871)
- BT Series: Conforming to ISO 7388-2 (JIS B 6339)
Developed and Proven in Industrial Applications
The development process has been carried out in close collaboration with selected partners. Their application testing and feedback played a key role in validating the tools for modern milling environments where stability and consistency are critical.
Bringing vibration-damped milling arbors into production marks an important milestone for MAQ. After extensive development and testing, the tools are now ready for use on the shop floor – designed to support stable milling, even in demanding applications.
