In internal turning processes, tool holders are often used with long overhangs. The cutting process will become unstable due to vibration, usually in the form of forced vibrations in machining and regenerative tool chatter. That is often solved by trying to stabilize the process with a lower cutting speed, reduced depth of cut, or increased feed per revolution.
